SNEHA BHAVSAR

Sneha Bhavsar is a Houston based visual artist exploring folk art traditions and techniques in her paintings, public art installations, and handicrafts. Much of her work incorporates folk art motifs, symbols and culturally based textile patterns from India, Asia, and the Americas. By practicing traditional craft techniques such as embroidery, papercutting and block printing she hopes to contribute to a living history of cultural heritage and identity through her art. Sneha’s South Asian background heavily inspires and guides her creative practice and encourages her to foster an appreciation for inclusivity and cultural diversity. In her recent works, she intertwines socially engaged art with the lived experiences of Houston’s refugee and immigrant artisans, creating public art that reflects global traditions, and cultivates community building. Through her art, Sneha works to uplift the voices of women artisans and honor the generational wisdom embedded in handmade traditions.

Sneha’s work has been recognized and awarded commissions from the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, the Houston Endowment, The BIPOC Arts Network and Fund, Houston Arts Alliance, Connect Community, and private organizations and individuals across the world.

Sneha continues to blend her love of creating art with her aspirations to serve her community. As Director of Artistic Programming for House of Devi, Sneha curates events to foster collective healing, connection, and celebrate heritage. In her current role, she developed the first all female South Asian art exhibit in Houston. Additionally, she serves as a Board member for Compassionate Houston, and is a founding member of the Compassion Through the Arts Program. Sneha has previously served as Vice Chair of the City of Bellaire Culture and Arts Board and Houston Children Give Back.
